Rabbi Sacks, a leading intellectual and a powerful voice for Judaism today brings his original insights on leadership moving through the books of Moses (BooM). What a delight! Highly readable and fascinating. After reading this book, I have seen leadership in a fresh perspective among the BooM heroes. Unless God and His Word are at the center of a leader's life coupled with lots of reading, discussion, delegation and sensitivity to history and people and of course character, the leader will dash into the rocks of reality. Read this book to learn how all of this plays out. Must have.

This is a very insightful book. It will reward careful reading and revisiting. Each chapter offers new ideas that have the ring of truth. The only thing wrong is the cover art, which doesn't relate to what the book is about.

I've pretty well concentrated on Sacks presentation on Deuteronomy since I'm schedule to deliver a class on this in the near future. I like his presentation because it gives a slightly different perspective than many other works. The attributes of a true leader are delineated according to scripture, so it follows my lesson plan for an adult Sunday School class. From a Christian perspective I'll not have the time available to delineate all the significant points that I might have in weekly Parasha readings as at the Jewish Community Center - but Moses lessons on leadership, as recognized by Sacks, will really offer much to those striving to get ahead in whatever endeavors they are engaged .I highly recommend this book for all those striving to get ahead whatever their field of endeavor.

Excellent study text. Easy to digest on a weekly basis because the level of writing is high. These essays will enable you to think more broadly and more deeply about many biblical issues, even on those you have already developed an understanding and opinion.

Rabbi Sacks' expositions are so insightful you wonder why you didn't see that insight yourself. Every essay is timeless yet with a contemporary perspective. It is a must read for those looking for a way to love and live life to the fullest.

Not just of value for religious Jews, this book should be read by anyone--Jewish or not--who wants to learn valuable lessons about leadership and how to live one's life. The chapters are short and concise, written in an easy, conversational tone. The authors had make great efforts on the specimens with latest dissection technology to highlight the specific structures of the particular body regions. For example, the blood vessels in the brain are so clear and nice to recognized by the readers. MRI and ultrasound figures of topographical anatomy are also included in the book. The book is full colored. It includes gross anatomy, histology and basic embryology of domestic mammals. The text is presented systematically with bold printed for important key terminology. I used to use textbook by Dyce, Sack, and Wensing but it is extremely laborious for reading and so full of jargon, making me sleep within 10 minutes almost every time I read it.The original text is in German and is translated to English properly. Good for students and reference for practitioner. The only negative comment about this book is it is too costly!

I am very happy with the condition of the books. I bought the books for my son and his friends who are studying veterinary medicine, I willknow more information soon as he gets them. He studies overseas.

This book should be on every vet students book list. It was not recommended to me while I was in school, maybe because it is so expensive. I came across it in the library and wished I had had it during anatomy class and beyond. I finally purchased it and use it all the time it is a great reference especially when you have been out of school for a while and need to refresh your anatomy. Save the money on lesser quality books and invest in this.

The text is very useful as well as the diagrams. Excellent as a comparative anatomy reference. Great for students at all levels. Get the hardback edition.

it contains great drawings and photos, although it's not as detailed as i thought.(for example i didn't find some of the arteries i was taught about at school )

GREAT book, by far the most organized especially when it comes to comparative anatomy. The only Con is the binding of the book - my professor has the same book and both of ours fell apart right after buying it. But a quick fix with binding tape fixed it up - annoying though since it is so expensive.

For anyone desperate for hope and solutions about someone you love who has autism, BUY AND READ THIS BOOK! I am new to autism, as my son was recently diagnosed with ASD, and since the diagnosis was given i have been hungry and desperate for answers. I want to understand autism and find ways to help my son, to on any way diminish the struggle he feels every day of his beautiful life. This book contains clear explanations and offers solutions. I highly recommended this book!!!

If you are familiar with the organization Defeat Autism Now, or are well-versed in bio-genetics then this book may be redundant to you. I had heard about some of the research and ideas presented in this book, but this was the first time I had actually read a full book on the subject.The research and information indicating that some people are more susceptible to environmental toxins is compelling. He recommends that the first place you start is going to a gluten-free and casein-free diet. This is something anyone, (with some considerable effort, extra cash for groceries and a local store with gluten-free options available) can do at home. However, from there you enter an entirely new world of homeopathic medicine that is rarely, if ever, covered by insurance and quite expensive. Many of the treatments require a doctors supervision, blood work and other tests and expensive supplement treatments. I took his advice and looked in my local area for a doctor associated with Defeat Autism now and the first three visits, which are all just evaluation with no actual tests or treatment, was going to cost over $2000, and they don't take insurance. (It may be different in your area, but this is an example, since some would find that amount accessible.) This simply is not feasible on my family's current income. Dr. Bock does give some good ideas on how to minimize the cost and possibly get insurance to cover some of the blood work and tests, but at this point in time his methods are an expensive proposition. Of course, now I am fighting the urge to be guilt ridden for not "finding the money" to help my child. What price can you put on that??!! The truth of the matter, though, is that insurance doesn't pay for the treatments because it is still considered to be unproven. I have no doubt that in time the traditional medical community will get more on board with many of these ideas. However, that is a lot of money to lay out when the level of chance that this MIGHT work is still so high. Honestly, I was hoping for something a little more doable when I picked up the book. That said, the gluten/casein free diet does seem to be helping my son to better manage his ADHD inspired angry outbursts. It is still not clear if this is psychosomatic for him or real, as he has reintroduced gluten/casein a couple of times without any of the dramatic responses Dr. Bock describes in his book.In terms of the book style itself, it does get a little preachy at times. I found, though, that if I kept reading he would eventually get off the soapbox and present more balanced views. He uses case studies to help show the type of work he does. I believe he is hoping that the reader will recognize one of these children in his/her own child, and thus add a level of relatability. He does do a pretty good job of explaining some higher level medical concepts in an easy to understand format, and there is a pretty extensive list of supplements and their descriptions included in the book for reference. His book seems to be a little different from other books on bio-genetics because he attempts to go beyond just focusing on autism. However, the majority of cases are when the other 3 "A"s are presenting with autism.

This book is very engaging, I honestly couldn't put it down! As the autism epidemic continues to rise (now 1 in 59--better diagnosis can only account for a fraction of this increase!), it is clear we must do something to help our children. I would love Dr. Bock to write a follow-up with all that he has learned in the last 11 years, but this book is a great place to start on the journey to recovery.

Really.I’ve just finished reading the relevant chapters on Autism.My first hint that this book was not very scholarly,were references made to Andrew Wakefield you might as well have included Jenny McCarty and Jim Carrey as experts(their is not Autistic).Wakefield had his medical license pulled by the British Medical Assoc. for fraudulent test results related to his so-called Autism tests. Interesting side point he was attempting to patent an alternative vaccine.As a grandfather of an Autistic Grandson I’m always looking for new materials on the subject this was a waste of money.No new material ,just another physician trying to make buck off a substandard book.I’d like my money back.

My sister-in-law was blessed with two granddaughters who were diagnosed autistic. After finding and reading Dr. Bock's book, then taking the girls for a diagnostic visit with him in California, it turns out THEY WERE NOT AUTISTIC at all. And now with proper diet and supplementation their conditions (BOTH of them) have been completely reversed.

I had already purchased this book prior to taking my child to a ND but hadn’t gotten a chance to read it. I was pleasantly surprised when I sat down and finally read it tonight. Wow, my daughter suffers from many of the issues suggested in the book and in fact the ND recommend many of these same things after seeing my daughters lab work. We are starting GF/CF diet as well as many other supplements and detoxification. I’m hopeful that we will be able to get her back on track. This book was very helpful in me gaining a further understanding of my daughters health issues outside of the short time I spend with her Dr.

Well written, lots of good info on supplements and the how & why they work. Best book I've read in years on health care. A must read for any parent dealing autism, ADHD, PANDAS, PANS, Lyme, asthma, autoimmune disorders, allergies, or complicated illnesses. Anyone wondering if there's a better way than prescription medication should definitely read this book, concrete answers will be discovered!

This is the very best book I have read on the topic of biomedical interventions for autism, but it's importance extends much further than that. Our children with autism are "canaries in the coal mine". Their illness is shouting at us to wake up to the realization that we are all suffering from toxic overload and inflammation that will eventually take us down, one way or another My old dog-eared, underlined, coffee-stained copy "walked off" with the nanny, so I came back to Amazon to purchase a second. There will always be a copy of this book on my bookshelf as long as I'm living.
