I so enjoyed Tanya Bond's first book in this series of coloring books (“Inklings”) that when I saw the second book was available, I purchased it sight unseen. It is another book filled with beautiful designs of big-eyed, wraith-like young women. The designs are all titled to give you some idea of the artist's concept though for the most part, you can gleam this from simply looking at the designs. A good number of the designs have animals in them as well and those are also beautifully drawn.The designs are detailed but not overly intricate. I didn't need anything more than alcohol-based markers and a variety of coloring pencils for the first projects I colored in this book. I'm really happy to see that the artist released this volume 2 and I am looking forward to more coloring books in this series.This is what I experienced in coloring in this book as well as testing my various coloring mediums on the paper:24 Fantasy Designs of young women with large eyesPrinted on one side of the page.Typical CreateSpace paper – thin, white, slightly rough, and non-perforatedGlue BoundDesigns do not merge into the binding area (so you can easily cut the pages out and no twisting and turning to try to color into the binding.Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paper.Water-based markers bleed through to a lesser degree with mostly a lot of spottingGel pens and India ink pens leave colorful shadows on the back of the page. India ink can bleed through if multiple coats are appliedColored pencils work really well with this paper. I can get deep color with repeated thin layers with both oil and wax based pencils. I can layer and blend well using a blending pencil. Hard leads such as Verithins can dent through to the back of the page.I used and recommend the use of a blotter page of card stock or several sheets of paper under your working page to keep seeping ink and dents from ruining the design below.

Cute, and a little creepy ( in a good way) girls to color. I like it a lot for something not as detailed to color and to practice skin. I understand the artist has one with better paper on her Etsy site but it's quite expensive. Most of the books in this price range already have good paper, is my only complaint, however they are only printed on one side of the page and the paper will take whatever you throw at it, except perhaps water, if you protect the page underneath.

I absolutely LOVE Tanya Bond's Inklings so I had to purchase volume 2. It is just as beautiful. If you click on her name, it will take you to her page where you can see videos of both books to see the gorgeous artwork. I've enclosed a picture of Rosa, the 1st picture in this volume. I used colored pencils. I always lay at least 1-2 110lb pieces of paper under the page I'm working to ensure a better picture. 24 stunning pictures of various girls sometimes with their animal companions. All equally charming, you can't go wrong with this coloring book!

Love the book! Well, that is...the pictures in the book, the drawings of Tanya Bond. The paper could have been better, the underneath picture shows through the page above! I hope, that is not so obviously anymore when pictures are coloured in.

I love this. You can look up the artists work online and try to recreate her technique or create your own colors. Every page is a work of art and a challenge, with great details and interesting characters. No really for children or for relaxation type coloring.

This is an absolutely awesome book! I'm about to finish my second book of hers and feeling a sense of withdrawal!

This is one of my favorite coloring books. The pictures are so fun to work on- just enough detail without being redundant and allowing you to add your own flair too.

This is a super cute book... All of the Inklings are pretty and fun to color. I have all of the Inklings in my collection; Don't hesitate to buy you will love them as well!

As a new faculty member I was not aware of how to even begin a potfolio. this book has a step-by-step, easy to follow, logical presentation of not only how to create a portfolio but how to excell as a faculty member. I have referred to this book throughout my endeavor in this new academic arena. Highly recommend this book for faculty.

I am not familiar with the series (My First Discoveries) and I did not pay attention to the description that states that the book size is 6.5 x 7 inches. For such a book it would be better to have a regular or big size.The idea of transparent pages with different body systems is absolutely wonderful. However, the reproductive system is missing! What kind of an odd mind would picture boys and girls genitals and leave out reproductive system? Hey, it is not like poof! and reproductive system appears out of nowhere at puberty!Also, a fetus is pictured in some kind of sphere in vacuum. Seriously? Nowadays at the age recommended (3-5 years) children already know that babies are not brought by storks, but grow in a woman belly. Authors (or editors, whoever made the decision on leaving those facts out) should get over their prudishness.So I would recommend this book ONLY as an additional material to complete anatomy book.

Great graphics. My son was interested enough to start asking questions. It does start with baby in womb(has a clear sheet, with picture. When you flip the page the image changes on backside of clear sheet). They use this method repeatedly(muscles, bones etc). Is age appropriate but if your not ready to talk about babies in the womb you might want to hold off on this one. But my son loves it and we pick it up at least once a week and he shows me where his bones are that are in the pictures.

i got this book to introduce my daughter (3.5 y/o) to more serious/ scientific books. she doesn't yet understand the whole concept but she surely enjoyed looking at the pictures.

My almost 3 year old absolutely loves this book. He's had a fascination with the body from an early age and loves the detail and explanation in this book. Totally age appropriate for 2.5-5 and serves as a great intro into the body.

This is a very nice book. My oldest granddaughter was asking a lot of questions about the body and how the bones etc. all work and are put together. I ordered this and a few other books on the subject and she love them.

My 5 year old has a lot of questions about his body. He learns best by seeing what is being explained. This book offers kid friendly images that help me show him what's on the inside. He loves the pictures that overlay.

I purchased this chapter book about two and a half years ago when my daughter was just 5 years old. Since then, both my husband and I have read the story to her several times. Now that she's in Second Grade, she is able to read for herself--thank goodness--and has done so on at least two occasions. LOL The story is very sweet, and there are some lovely illustrations throughout the book. I have to admit that when I first read the story (I've had to read it several times! LOL) I enjoyed it almost as much as my daughter did.In this story, Ariel, now married to Prince Eric, resumes her mermaid form and travels to Atlantica for her sister, Adella's, birthday celebration. While there, Adella wishes that Ariel could stay, coincidentally during a solar eclipse. When her wish is granted, Ariel must find a way to break the spell so she can return to her beloved Eric. The is a great story for any little one who enjoys princess stories. My daughter loves it and highly recommends it.

As a tribute, it was a good book. I previously read a book about Belle, but I enjoyed this book more. I read this book three times, and each time I felt different about it. The first time was when I was eight, and obviously loved it. The second time was when I was nine, and it wasn't as good. I just finished reading it at the difficult, weird, and challenging tween age of eleven. But somehow I felt like it was a book that not just little children should read, but people my age should also read it just to look back on the things they used to love . Such as the Little Mermaid. I think this way because even right now I feel like I could watch the Little Mermaid, and all because of this book. I would like to recommend this book to one of my best friends Kaylee Turner, because told me and told me twelve minutes ago that the movie the Little Mermaid was stupid and is only for little kids. I would now like to say that I have looked back at my past of the movies I loved, and I have asked my mom which movie was my favourite, and of course she told me the Little Mermaid. My daughter is four and a half and just starting to read. I was looking for some longer books that I could read TO her along the way and she requested they be about princesses. I was wary because I'm not a big fan of the Disney ladies but I've found that the plots in this book series are generally better than the originals! Since the stories all take place after Happily Ever After, the gals can have adventures beyond "finding and capturing a man." :-)In this story, Ariel has to solve a mystery when a young girl she's been teaching goes missing. It's a fun story line and my daughter enjoyed listening to it. We read a couple chapters a night and I liked being able to introduce her to the idea of a story that unfolds over time -- unlike the short picture books we read in a single sitting.

Be sure and check the page count. I didn't look before I jumped and my 5 year old niece saw Ariel on my kindle app at bedtime! We only got about 1/3 of the way through before I realized I'd have to tell her we'd finish it the next day because we just didn't have that much time to read that night. She was entranced and like me would keep herself up all night to finish if given the opportunity. The next day she kept asking when we could read the rest of it. I think we have a hit on our hands where she is concerned. It was a little long for a single bedtime reading but outside of the time factor I don't have any quibbles. She loved it and it made for a good way to pass some time together.

I bought several of these books for my daughter, who is 5. The recommended age range is from 4 - 8 years but these books are not meant for children at the younger end of the age range, especially those just learning to read. There are very few pictures and it definitely did not hold my daughter's interest, even though she loves Ariel and the other Disney princesses. I would say these books are more appropriate for kids aged 7 or 8 and up, depending on their reading ability. I had planned to read a few pages each night to teach her how to follow along with a longer story, but forget that. Kids that age want a story that can be read from start to finish at one time. Still, good books for slightly older children.

I bought this for an almost four year old as a way to introduce her to chapter books. We read a chapter or two a night and with her favorite characters it is a hit! I bought 4 others for her and I'm glad to have her into reading these types of books! I'm going to introduce new chapter books and characters when we finish these 5

I read this "chapter book" to my six year old grandaughter in two sessions over two days. She absolutely loved it, and we were able to discuss the characters & happenings as we read. It had mamy good elements of character & plot. I will definitely look for other books in the series. Older children would enjoy reading it themselves. A new twist to the princess stories!

Fun book. I purchased 3 of these to give to friends for Christmas. The stories are cute and so true to what we are experiencing at our age. Loved the title of 1,000 senior moments (but we could only remember 256).

I was disappointed with the humor. Most of the moments were commonplace and about as exciting as losing your keys. But, it was O.K. and worth a read.

I received the book quickly and in excellent condition. I bought it for a gift and my friend. She loves it. She said there are very funny sayings in there that seniors can relate to.

Bought this for a friend's 70th birthday. He doesn't seem to find it funny or interesting.

It was a gift for a friend in a nursing home. Very appropriate!

Ross comes across superficially as fluffy and a little lightweight, but that's far from the truth. He's actually a very strong individual who's managed to maintain a pretty positive outlook on life in spite of several hurdles along the way.This book is a charming, candid, funny read and very well written to boot. You find that you actually hope that you have become Ross' best friend as a result of reading it, as he sounds like a fine friend to have. What looks to have been good fortune and chance encounters is in reality more a product of being true to himself, keen to work, and charming. Ross was in the right place at the right time because he wanted to be; he was given opportunities because he deserved them - he's smart, witty and very much himself, and this comes across in his writing.

It took me a while before I had a chance to listen to it, but once I did I couldn’t turn it off!! I love that Ross did his own narration. I don’t think it would have been the same otherwise. I first saw Ross and became a fan when he was on Chelsea Lately. I was so excited when I saw he had written a book!! I certainly wasn’t disappointed with this. His tale is inspiring, not just for the LGBTQ community, but for anyone who thinks they may not have what it takes. Never give up on your dreams!

Yes, Mr. Mathews is 'gay'. So, if that bothers you, then move on to something else. But, if you can accept a person for who he (or she) is AND want a ROTFLMAO read, then Ross is your man.I first heard of Ross Mathews from watching the "Chelsea Lately Show". Then, saw him doing interviews at various Red Carpet events for "E!". He is funny wherever I see him!Although I am heterosexual, this book is wonderful, intelligently-written humor about life as seen through Mr. Mathews' eyes. He helps me see the humor is ALL aspects of life ... and people, including myself. So, if you can laugh at yourself, then this book is even funnier, I believe.My thanks to Chelsea Handler, "E!", and of course Mr. Mathews' parents for allowing me to enjoy this very funny man.

I saw Ross Matthews on a recent morning show publicizing his book - it sounded interesting, so when Amazon offered the Kindle version on a great special, I eagerly purchased it and read it and readers, I was not disappointed. Ross grew up in northwest USA and gives a great intro on life in a smallish town surrounded by rural areas and farming communities. I enjoyed hearing about his childhood and adolescent and his fortunate journey as an intern at the Tonight show. He is upbeat and honest, doesn't have a bad word to say about most people, and lets the reader in on his struggles with people who are not as kind as he is or who look at life with less generosity in their hearts than he has in his. I enjoyed his adventures, his humor, his family. If he writes another book, I would probably read it. I enjoyed this peak into another life a continent away from mine, a generation away from mine. His happiness leaps off the page and into the reader.

My rating is based on the fact that I purchased the book thinking it was a self help book for developing self-confidence, which it was not, so my low rating is probably not fair.

Ross’s voice is clear, fun, and upbeat. He is the pinkest pink in the rainbow, and reading this book will bring brightness to your day that you didn’t know you needed. I truly, truly, truly loved this book and I can’t recommend it enough 💖Side note: I got 100% on the quiz at the end.

I love this book. Ross really lets you feel his warm humor and sweet personality. YES ROSS, I WANT TO BE YOUR BEST FRIEND, TOO! He is a very special man and has lived a really interesting life. He reminds of a child waking up to Christmas every morning. He is so positive, fun and always upbeat. I remember when he first came on the scene on the Leno Show and then he started covering events. I loved everything he did. Chelsea saw his gifts too. He's a great role model not only to the Gay Community but also to all youngsters. He had a dream and followed it. I can't wait to read his next edition!

I've enjoyed Ross Mathews since seeing him on The Tonight Show a number of years ago. It's refreshing to see someone who embraces who they are without apologies. Ross writes the way he talks and you can almost hear him talking to you as you read the book. What a character. A light-hearted account of some of the major events in Ross' life and how he moved past the painful parts and relished the good events to be the person he is today. Additional proof that you can achieve your goals and dreams - but the serendipitous events have planning and hard work behind them, they don't just happen!
