This book is a great read for anyone who needs to consult about drugs for psychology. As a counseling student I won't be prescribing drugs to my clients, but I can reference this books to gain a better understanding of what they are taking.
Wonderful book! Dr. Healy is a great researcher and I so appreciate his courage and honesty. I highly recommend all of his books.
While the author certainly knows his subject, I found the book difficult to read. He gave too much detail, and often some sentences were difficult to understand. I hope that there are some simpler books than this one out there.
I have bought this book becuz i myself is a mental health patient for many years, suffered tremendously from depression and bipolar disorder. this book is great for anyone who wants to know more about the drugs they are taking. the book gives a thorough explanation of different drugs and an honest opinion of their side effects, all in laymen's term. I am very thank to Healy.

This book now goes into my library as "one" of my best on the subject. It is balanced and thorough.
This book is more of a medical-school textbook describing the major drug categories. It only mentions briefly the principal drugs in each.Although the 4th edition was published in 2005 it does not mention many of the newer drugs like Lexapro,Trileptal, Abilify, Modafinil etc . I did not find the "User Issues" text boxes to be an innovation or of much help.This is definitely not a book for quick reference. And it is expensive too!
Great for use in my NP classes. Very informative.
